Un Presidente, a 9 x 48 gran corona that is often referred to as the “A” vitola, though the traditional Cuban “A” vitola is a measures 9 1/4 x 47. While the cigar is scheduled to be released just days before the election, the company says it is not a political statement, but simply a coincidence that it is coming out ahead of the vote on the United States’ next president. Rather, the cigar is named as a tribute to Cuban cigars of similar sizes.
It will be available to all retailers, though will be limited to four annual releases of 16,000 cigars, each packed in a handmade wooden cigar box and then packed into five-count wooden trays. Additionally, each cigar received 10 months of aging to deliver what the company said is a slight mellowing of the blend.
The Jacobs Ladder blend uses a Pennsylvania broadleaf maduro wrapper and binder, while the filler is made of Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos. It is produced at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua.
